20 houses, 26 houses – or is it 46 houses?
Anyone confused about how many houses might be built on the field to the west of the tennis courts should not blame themselves. In a nutshell, the situation is this:
– 1 – The developer (Pegasus) has permission to build 20 affordable homes on the south-eastern part of the land. This was granted by a planning inspector after Wiltshire Council planners turned the application down.
– 2 – Pegasus also applied (at the same time) for permission to build 26 houses (50% affordable) on the same land. This was also turned down by Wiltshire Council and then by the same planning inspector.
– 3 – Pegasus complained to the High Court that the inspector had made an error in law in his rejection of the 26 houses bid. The court agreed and told the planning inspectorate to re-run the appeal. This is now happening.
If Pegasus are successful in their bid to build the 26 houses, they will have the choice of building the 26 (50% affordable) or the 20 (100% affordable) houses. They will not be able to build 46.
