The Melksham Link
There was a presentation to the parish council on Wednesday evening by representatives of the Berks & Wilts canal. They talked about their revised masterplan for the development of a stretch of canal from Semington (just west of the bridge) to the Avon (just west of Melksham). This is known as the Melksham link.
At present, the plan envisages that the canal will be funded through the building of some 800 houses in and around Berryfield. It does not envisage any building south of the old railway line or west of the new canal itself. As such, a green buffer will be maintained north of the Kennet & Avon up to the old railway embankment.
There will be an open day on November 18th (1000 to 2100) in Berryfield village hall where proposals will be displayed. All welcome.
